That's where I thought it might be.  Just got back from buying a bunch of hay 
and read the mail...thanks for all the responses.

Before I left I switched the arrow to the other tank (the one that didn't 
leak) and shut off the pssssing side.

So then, after reading the responses I went out with my trusty soap and 
turned the arrow back to the offending side and turned it on.... no pssssss 
noise and no smell of propane.... hmmm...... I turned off the other tank 
thinking that would make it psssss again. It didn't. I can't get it to leak 
now.

Odd.   Maybe the arrow was a bit askew and was making it do that...(?)

Whatever, crisis averted for now.
