They aren't terribly high quality speakers, just pretty good for
computer speakers. They are Altec-Lansing brand with a small built-in
amp that I picked up at a local Sam's Club. They are a pretty good
compromise of quality, value, and compactness. They do require AC for
the amp. I haven't yet, but I can even buy a little sub-woofer for them.
