Hi Barbara,

I didn't fasten them to the wall. It so happens that the kitchen window 
curtains are over the sides of the blinds so they are holding them.

They do come with little thingies you can use to attach the bottom, but not 
necessary in the kitchen.

When I do the front window I might attach them, but I don't know if they 
would hold in travel.... doesn't look like it. I may just run them up to 
travel.
