You could use baking soda, or those volcanic rock odor absorbers, but IMHO, 
the best thing is to track down the cause of the odor.  Sooo......
Can you describe funky -- meaning, moldy, chemical-like, or what?
What are the cabinets made of?  I know some furniture that's made of particle 
board really smells.
Is there any sign of moisture? Do the close smell musty at all?
