Fred,

We had the same problem with our 98 Safari.
Took it to the factory last month and they sealed everything and it 
still leaked.
I felt that the gasket or the hinge was leaking so I sealed the 
opening tight with silicone as a test.
We had 10" of rain on Saturday and no more leaks.
Now I have to get a new gasket so I can still use it as an emergency 
exit, but I will wait till spring.
