Your planned Yukon will pull the trailer, barely.  Steep hills will be a
real strain, as will your gas bill.  I had a 454 2500 Suburban with a
3.7 axle to tow my 31'er.  It did it pretty good but the mileage was
terrible.  The 8.1 with a 3.7 axle would be much better especially since
you can get the Allison transmission in the 2500HD.  The mileage you
will get will low.  My change from the 454/3.7 to the Duramax/Allison
was not cheap but worth every penny.  My mileage went from 8/11 mpg
(tow/clean) to 15/18 mpg and the truck does not even seem to breath
heavy.  The 7 mile long 9% grades in and out of Death Valley were no
strain with the 8000# trailer.  Almost twice the power and almost twice
the mileage has me smiling.  There is no need for add-ons since the
power is sufficient, the exhaust brake is included as is the automatic
torque converter lock-up.  If one is a real power freak there is a third
party plug-in available that has been proven to add over 100 hp and
120ft/lb torque.  Last year the 454 towed the Airstream to Alaska, next
summer the Duramax will be the tow and I'm looking forward to the lower
fuel cost.
