Several weeks ago I had a problem with my propane pigtails flying apart. In
discussing the problem with my propane supplier who came to inspect the
situation, they gave me a can of GASOLIA thread sealant (dope).  It is what
they use in making propane connections. It is C.S.A.  approved for natural
gas, butane and propane.  So says the label. I have no interest in selling
this product.
