what "works" for me is to use my Verizon Motorola Cell phone to call an 877
number which I have thru GFI-Inc.com (7 cents a minute) which dials a connection
here in Houston into TexasNet.

if the static is not bad and the creek doesn't rise, I get about 14kbps i/o.
that means that before I leave town, I nomail all of my elists and hope that
noone sends me chain letters, etc.  It does get me my email while boondocking if
I am close to a tower.  I am considering adding an external induction antenna on
the skin of the A/S - possibly mounted on the lexan vent cover???

anyone doing similar and found better ways to do this?
