David, and anyone else having hitch or electrical problems:

Go find an outfit that sets up Horse Trailers to help you get the hitch
adjusted correctly, or a good RVplace. No matter what hitch you use, if
it isn't set up for your puller and trailer combination, it can't do its
job.  

And on another note, nothing short of guardian angels is going to save
you from every badness on the highways. Sometimes it's better to just
pull over.
