[A/S] help on Polishing

Hi

I am now starting the process of Polishing my 79 Sovereign. I have removed 
the clear coat and the molding. There is little corrosion in some spots, 
mainly on the top of the rear and front cones. I have been to perfect polish 
page, and many others. A friend who had a real nice 1960 Overlander has 
graciously allowed me to use his polisher and try some of the polishes he has 
bought. So far I have tried Nuvite, Rolite. ap-300. I understand that Rolite 
is the one recommended for my era Airstream. However the nuvite seems to work 
much better. The question I have is this: is the Aluminum on the cones a 
different type than on the sides? I can get a real nice shine on the sides 
but the cones just don't seem to shine as well. 
So far I am just using the S grade or finish polish. Any suggestions?
