You obviously are playing with fire here on your
winterizing routine. I know my dealer winterizes by
blowing out the lines. He uses enough pressure that
he guarantees that the system will not have anything
in it to cause any ruptures. 

My little 12 volt compressor won't do that kind of job
but I also do the anti-freeze thing. I flush it
pretty good in the spring and I haven't had to deal
with any residue in the lines.

If I remember my old science classes one of the
peculiar properties of water is that when it gets
close to freezing, it expands. Then as it gets colder
and colder it contracts. I forgot the magic number
where the contraction starts. Bottom line those who
are in climates where it just gets below freezing are
as susceptible to freeze damage as those of us who get
down to 0.
