I've not tried this, but I have two thoughts on your idea:
1. Few Class A motorhomes are going to offer that much more 
storage. A 34' Airstream has an extraordinary amount. Where the 
Class A shines is in storage of large, bulky items.
2. More importantly, if you pull a trailer behind a Class A, what are 
you going to use for day-to-day transportation? Oh sure, you can use 
the bikes, but in every weather? With the trailer/truck combination 
you have a vehicle that is at least suited (if not quite ideal) for 
local transportation.
