Re: [A/S] Brake Controllers and rental towing rigs

several things here (Lord, I think that I am turning into Will Sills and that is
said with all due respect to that man's great knowledge and expertise,
curmudgeonly as he may be <G>) which I will address --

1. inertial at low speed - my Sentinel and most others have manual capability to
engage the trailer brakes and I am long used to that. I have on several
occasions reached down and stopped my rig (truck and trailer=rig in my and most
trucker language) using the trailer brakes only. can be done is reverse also.
2. The Prodigy is one of very few - if any - controllers to actuate in reverse
without manual finger work.
3. Tekonsha's website has all sorts of stuff for download for all four of their
line, instruction sheets and cards for operation, wiring internal and external,
and listing of accessories (two brackets for this particular controller), and so
on. Suggest that those interested go delve that site.
4. Local Van shop will not sell Kelsey or Tekonsha, claims 10% failure on both
brands. instead, claims 100% reliability of the Reese/DrawTite controller line.
Tend to disbelieve both claims and plan to steer away from there (Clampitt tune
in background).
5. Ford Superduty trucks all - I believe - come set up for Class II-IV trailer
with a 2" receiver frame mounted and wired from the firewall to the hitch and a
7 blade (not round pin - I am having mine changed to pin) male connector already
to plug into with the umbilical.
