A good friend has a F350 dually w/powerstroke for his 12,000 lb. 
fiver.  He says the only mistake he made is getting a 4.10 rather 
than 3.73 - this after 40,000 towing miles, including all over the 
Rockies on several occasions.

If you are having gearing problems, it might be good to look at a 
Gear Vendors over/under drive unit (www.gearvendors.com).
