Re: [A/S] Fw: questions from a new AS owner

Hi Don,

Welcome to the list! I have a new trailer so I can't answer much, but I'll
go for the ones I can....

< 4. Did I make a mistake in buying an AS? The hail problem here in the
Midwest scares me to death. I'm buying the lowest comprehensive policy I can
find. Maybe this will help.>

No, you didn't make a mistake buying an Airstream...... My almost new
trailer got hit by hail in SD, did $16,000 damage. I loved the trailer
anyway..... it was still just as nice inside. I did end up getting it
repaired, my insurance paid for it to be reskinned. If I could have gotten
the money I would have and not repaired it. When it's home why not put up a
little pole building to protect it.... just some poles and a low sided
roof..... on the road you take your chances.

<5. Would you recommend Foremost or Miller's insurance. Miller's is the
cheapest at $147 per year. I've never bought insurance via the mail. Is it a
safe thing to do? (Claim adjustment, service etc?)>

I have used Foremost (see above) they paid all claims. I now have RVAlliance,
because Foremost lost interest in insuring me after 4 claims in one year.
(Actually I dropped them, then tried to go back and they passed on the
opportunity.) Millers is just an agency to my knowledge....

< 7. I'd like to put a heat strip in the Coleman ac. How hard? Price? Source?>

Camping World...... is the Coleman heat strip compatable?

 >8. What's this about the tail drag/frame reinforcement/replacement axles?
Should I be concerned?>>

No, that's a problem with the early 70s models.....

<Will my tail start drooping eventually? (Actually as a retired teacher of
33 years, my tail started drooping years ago).>

Gravity sucks.

< 9. RV Today on tv showed a vent that would automatically close when it
started raining, but I've not been able to locate one. >

Fantastic Vent......... well named.
