so sorry but if that was ever true and I doubt it, the term coach applied to the
vehicular conversions which were originally kits from magazines like Pop Mech,
etc.  The coach applied to the converted milk trucks, school buses, etc ad
infin.
Again, I only go back to memories of about 1950 or about and my earliest was the
use of coach by an uncle referring to his converted 1940s Suburban with bed, etc
while he talked disparagingly of my father's home built plywood travel trailer
on a Chevy front axle I think.

TCA has always been trailers to cover all the trailers from pop ups or home
builts, etc to commercial units and coaches which covered all motorized camping
vehicles.

suggest you go check your records a little closer.  again, it is a matter of
usage like the living language.  if enough people misuse an expression, it will
change its meaning.  (my PhD in Linguistics is peeping out.)  but it never
applied to a towed trailer.  at least not until now.
