Ours was center bedroom, and the ends of the regular beds jutted up against 
vertical wood walls at each end. No curves to worry about. I just made 
rectangular platforms from 1/4 inch plywood attached to a lightweight wood 
frame (probably something like 1x2, wood), fitted them above the lower 
beds, drilled into the end walls, and bolted them in place. There was no 
attachment to the wall. Fairly simple, really. We must have made mattresses 
from foam rubber (this was 30 years ago, and I don't recall all details). 
It was all easily removable with only two 1/4 inch holes in each end left 
over. When I sold it years later I showed the buyer the setup and offered 
to remove them - he wanted them left in as they were.

Our "kids" are now in their '40's, and they tell us that those camping 
trips were some of the most fun times of their childhoods.
