[A/S] electric water heater

When I had a new propane heater installed last year, I should have looked for 
an propane/electic one. Didn't do that.  Is it too late now to add something 
on or would it have to be a separte small unit? In a closet and which 
electric wires if anyone has already accomplished this?  Why no microvave 
water heaters yet? This is a future project, just asking!
