By laying the door out properly aligned  on a flat surface and 
taping it down at the edges to hold it, light canvass or cotton drill 
can be glued to the back and the door restored. I have done 
about 4 this way on my 73. Other than the failed paper backing 
the doors were in good condition.  I used 3M spray adhesive. 
Seems to work but has not been that long.
