Hi Patti
I have used the propane lantern indoors for years. Ihave never had a problem 
with it at all. They do not leak if put together right. About as much chance 
as your stove burner leaking. 
They are not a good idea to use in a closed area like a tent, but in a large 
trailer I have never had a problem.
