Re: [A/S] Shell off floor replacement on 1958 18ft Traveller

Will,
Great pics! I'm in the process of removing the shell on my 57 Sovereign of
the Road. The trailer is gutted and all of the interior lower panels have
been removed. I'm scratching my head a bit about the next move though. The
"C" channel sitting on the floor sits inverted. The exterior skin appears to
sandwich the bellypan aluminum on the exterior leg of the "C". There is a
row of rivets all around the outside of the coach which appear to go through
both the exterior skin, the belly pan material and into the "C". If I drill
out all of these rivets, all of this should come apart, however does that
leave the raw edge of the exterior skin supporting the structure while it is
lifted off the floor? Unfortunately I can't see in your pics if the "C"
channel somehow remains with the exterior skin giving it some support. Do
you have any idea how heavy your shell is? Mine is approx 28' long so it'll
probably be a bigger issue. Are you worried at all about the wind blowing
the shell over ? The place where I work can be very windy and I'm concerned
that one morning I'll come out to a beautiful 13 panel shell rolled up into
a little ball. Contact me off list if you have any close up shots of that
specific area.

Thanks very much,

Colin Hyde
