For a Bambi, what else but Bamboo?  Have seen some gorgeous stuff out there 
and it is supposedly harder than oak.  Water resistant or waterproof.  One 
vendor even offers a 50 year warranty.  When that wears out I'll just 
install it again!  (For my 107th birthday?)

Web search for "bamboo flooring" will keep you reading for hours.  For 50

This is the way I plan to go on mine, soon as I can trim the corners off all 
the tuits and make one of them round.
