Home Depot sells a many facited product line called
Zep.  The mildew cleaner is a spray on and walk away. 
It will kill the worst mildew you have seen although
it might take a couple of applications. No scrubbing
or rinsing required.  It is pretty potent so you need
lots of ventilation.
