[A/S] Step Assembly Removal

To continue the discussion about rusty steps, I have a 20 ft., 1973 Argosy 
which has rust around the sheet metal trim which is exposed when the step is 
in the travel position. I'd like to remove the assembly to allow for a 
thorough rust clean-up and re-painting of the step but it's not obvious how 
it can be removed from the trailer or how difficult it might be. 

Any advice or instructions how to remove it is appreciated.
