  Hello Tom, What year is the Suburban you are looking at? A 3.73 is 
the rearend that you need. The higher the number the lower the gear. 
A 3.73 is a lower ratio than say a 3.42. The lower the ratio the more 
pulling power you have. Also what part of the country do you live in? 
If it has a tow package it will be either a 3.42 or a 3.73. I would 
just about bet on a 3.73. You might check to see if there is a tag on 
the rearend, if you don't mind crawling underneath it. I hope this
