[A/S] Travel to Canada

We have been anticipating a trip to Victoria, Canada this June, primarily to 
see Butchart Gardens.  But now, we have some concerns, due to anecdotes and 
accounts of problems, particularly crossing the border, both directions.  We 
have two dogs and a cat, all in good health, with appropriate innoculations 
as per our Vet's recommendations.  We have US Passports, good vehicles, and 
will carry enough $ and "plastic" to cover our expenses.  We do not travel 
with firearms. Still, we worry about "difficulties" that might present 
themselves, such as:
  a.. Problems going in to Canada and returning to USA
  b.. Ferry boat capacity for our F-250 CC 4x4 pickup pulling our 25' Safari A/S
  c.. Ferry boat reservations and costs
We would appreciate any advice and counsel from the listees relating to this 
possible trip.  Perhaps long replies should be "off list" so as to not 
"clutter" the server.  Hunter, please advise.
