Re: [A/S] Help with window leaking

He Steve,

You'll probably hear everyone tell you not to remove the windows. I agree.
If you live in Yuma, take a lobster pick, a putty knife and clean out the
caulking around the window seams and recaulk them with Vulcum.

Of course, there's a good chance the leak will still be there. Go back to
Yuma, use the same tools, clean out the caulking from every seam above the
window on your Airstream and recaulk all of them with Vulcum. Just for good
measure, do all the seams below the windows. May as well fix leaks that you
haven't found yet.

While you're at it, clean and caulk the area around the roof vents and TV
antenna. After that, you'll have a better than 50-50 chance of curing the
water leak (so says me, who has been there and done that - twice).

Okay, so you don't live in a bone dry climate like the southwest. Next best
is wait for the weather channel to forecast a full week straight of no rain
and low humidity (or do the caulking in your garage). Spend the time
between now and then gathering up the caulk, arranging to leave your
Airstream in one place (preferably near a shade tree), keeping the ladder
handy and arranging with your boss for several vacation days.

You can see where this is going. The best way to solve a water leak problem
is to go all out and do the job right the first time. There's no such thing
as "good enough."

Have fun,

Terry
