Re: [A/S] Rear view mirrors GM compatible

There is an aftermarket extension mirror which replaces the factory [current
body style GMC and Chevrolet pickups] power/heated mirror. These mirrors
extend further out than the stock ones, and retract when the extension is
not needed. They are fully compatible with the factory wiring and look very
similar to the factory version except for the accordion cover which hides
the extension mechanism.

These mirrors are not cheap; several hundred dollars, I believe.

The stock GM mirror does have a detent which allows it to swing out a little
further than the normal position. This may be enough to do the trick.

I am still working on my 1976 vintage Tradewind, so I haven't investigated
the outside mirror situation yet. If anyone needs more information on the
above mentioned mirrors, I will try to check it out for you and locate a
source of more information and cost.
