Hi pearl,
 I own a 1976 Argosy, it has the original battery compartment on the
left side appoximately 7 feet from the rear.  I have bought two
'trojan batteries that are both 6 volt but when run in succession
together willhave an resulting output of 12 volts.  Thay have a very
deep cycle( lots of reserve power).  The batteries however were a
little too tall to have one fit into the battery compartment so I have
placed them both in an adjacent compartment next to the original
battery compartment.  In my trailer this space that I placed them into
was underneath one of the rear beds of the trailer.  There was some
unused room there large enough for the batteries to fit without any
revisions to the trailer- that makes me happy as all the replacement
cable and batteries were neat and out of sight.  I them used some
longer battery cable to replace the short cable but have used a
slightly larger diameter than the stock cable and have made sure to
route them neatly from the batteries to the fuse panel on the univolt
system(transformer/charger).  The twin batteries came with thier own
battery container to store them in where ever they will be placed
making the end product safe and out of site.  Long battery cable can
be found in bulk at an industrial supply store along with the clamps
for the posts. Your trailer will no doubt be different than mine
inside but the idea is the same.  Your battery compartment should be
able to breath slightly to avoid battery vapour build up (slight
venting is all that is needed ).You will have to find the space that
work for your floorplan from the group.  These 'Trojan' brand
batteries were available through a battery supply retailer. Note us
