Re: [A/S] Electrical Connections @ Plugs
According to the factory data the following is the pin out for the 1966-81 seven pin plug.
White = Ground
Blue = +12V
Brown = Right turn & stop
Green = Tail light & clearance
Red = Left turn & stop
Yellow = Brakes
Black = Back up lights
Since 1981 the code changed the color to:
Blue = Brake
Yellow = Backup
Black = +12V
So, as you can see if the color of the wire matches the label on a new flat 7 pin plug
you will be applying +12V to the old brake line. It is recommended that you make any
changes in the trailer plug so that the plug will work in any flat 7 pin, not just
your vehicle.
So the short version is following the labels on the inside of the plug, connect the
blue wire to the BLK pin, the back wire to the center pin, and the yellow wire to the
BLU pin.
