Re: [A/S] Buying Input

Ron, enloy the time of your life! i went with the trailer.
the thought of driving all day and staying in the same space in the
evening didn't appeal to me. the truck as puller option allows you to up
grade as new features appear and bugs with old problems are worked out.Look
at the advantages of fuel injection or the current generation
of deisels with a motor home your are stuck with that chassie with all its
blessings and curses for as long as you have the unit and when you
change you have to change all of it. Experment by renting a motorhome
for a trip and see if you like it. If my style was have a different spot
every night and tow a boat ya can't beat a motorhome.
your position now of having three years gives you a chance to
purchase something with the first blush of new warn off and you can up
grade the easy stuff that freshens a place up carpet, curtains etc. you can
take shake down cruises making yourself familiar with all
systems and get comfortable getting a routine down.
I purchased a trailer first and thought i would take two to three years to
find a puller( three kids in college makes $$$$ tight). this
gives me time to go over the Airstream and upgrade and really
understand each system. By sheer luck last year i found a puller
and paid.... would you beleive $50.00???? Its a B-van with a bad paint
job.(fresh paint is on the way!)
one note of caution if you do decide to go with a used motor home
have someone who works on them go over the under carrage. actually
get it up in the air and look at the underside. with the amount of
time they sit you can have major problems from lack of use.
espically the brake systems.....
again throught the whole process have fun!!!!! Steve O
