I patched mine last year.  I had a 5 inch       in the
tank.  I drilled a hole at each end of the rip to keep
the       from continuing.  I bought a generic black
water tank repair kit from my local RV place (~$7.00).
 It came with some fiberglass mesh for strength and a
2 part epoxy to smear on the mesh that was really easy
to use.  It was rather messy so I would suggest gloves
of some sort.  Once you mixed the 2 parts of the resin
together it got VERY hot due to the chemical reaction.
 So far it has held well.  Hope this helps.
