[A/S] Engine pre-luber

Since oils in tow vehicles has been a topic of conversation recently, I'll 
take advantage of the situation and ask if anyone has used an engine pre-lube 
device.  As I understand it, it's a pump that pressurizes the oil system.  
You turn the ignition on and pause for a few seconds before you start the 
engine.  This forces oil into the engine and provides the cushion of oil 
around all the metal parts that is normally there when the engine is running 
but otherwise absent for the first few seconds on startup.  Since we have all 
been told that the majority of wear takes place each time we start an engine, 
this process would help minimize wear.  

This has particular appeal to me because I work in my garage/workshop each 
week and must move the truck out onto the driveway each time.  The most 
common trip my truck takes is probably about 30 feet.  Every time I move it I 
cringe thinking of the engine wear I'm causing.  Relative merits of this idea 
vs. synthetic oil?  Sure would appreciate any knowledgeable opinion.
