[A/S] Confused by CB, FRS, Cell phone

As we plan to spend some considerable time on the road this next year, I
would appreciate hearing some discussion on the various merits of each
of the above.
Are all necessary when travelling?
If you have a CB, what did you find was "adequate" for keeping in touch
with other A/S ers, listening to the warnings etc?
Other than backing the trailer into the parking space and following my
wife's directions, why do I need an FRS "phone".
As a Canadian, I would be interested in some experiences from fellow
Canuks on what cell phone system they found worked in the US. My
experience with Telus was nothing but frustrating and that was just in
Pennsylvania? My previous phone was Bell Mobility and some local servers
in the southern states would not "hook up". What service provider do you
use?
Finally, do you see anything wrong, other than convenience, with getting
my email off the VAC email service?
So many questions, sorry.
