[A/S] which one?

Hi there,
I am a tourist with a passion for old cars,and associated stuff.My 
wife and I are planing a trip around the USA in our late 50s Ford.I 
would like to get a 22-24 ft A/S as I have always loved the style of 
them.My question is reguarding a tandem axle trailer or a single 
axle.I think that a tandem axle 24ft would probably be better to pull 
than a 22 ft single axle.Obviously the rear spings on our Ford will 
be uprated,and a load adjusting hitch will be used.I am looking for a 
trailer from the 60s or 70s with air con.We are starting our trip 
from Northern Ca,and moving north ,then east.I would love some Ideas 
from you experienced trailerites.
