One thing you must remember with TiVo:

It normally makes a call to TiVo Central once/day to update its 
programming information. It will complain if it can't connect for a few 
days; it has 9 days' worth of program guide. This could be a problem 
when travelling. They do have a 1-800 number, but (obviously) prefer 
that you use a local number if it's available. The unit is nearly 
useless without the programming guide, not much better than a regular 
ol' VCR. It might even be more of a PITA when travelling because it 
'knows' which stations you can receive because of what you told it 
during initial setup. This might not be a problem with the satellite 
channels, but would be a large problem with the local stations.

You'd about have to have a phone jack at your campsite because it would 
be a very large PITA to haul it and your TV to a remote jack someplace. 
It's possible to force the daily call ("Call Now"), but you must use the 
TV to see what's going on.
