Re: [A/S] A/S air conditioner

This is just a few notes on your A/C install;
I would not put a 1968 model A/C on anything because the unit would
probably be worn out by now. The compressors have a carbon steel case and
it would be long rusted through and useless. The same goes for the rest
of the components in the unit.
If you are going for a vintage look you could probably find a old shroud
and adapt it to work on a new A/C unit.
As for what the factory used on your '68 model to begin with, I had to
replace the factory unit on my '72 and found a new Coleman A/C unit to be
almost identical except for the shroud.
On a Land Yacht I feel that a low profile Coleman looks best because to
me it does not make the trailer look so top-heavy when compared to the
standard size units.
The wiring is not doubt in place on you trailer. Just be careful when you
cut the hole for the unit that you don't cut into the wires. It should be
a fairly easy install if you have all the interior trim pieces. You will
need to block up the space between the two skins with wood stock to take
the weight of the unit without it sagging down and causing a water leak.
Good luck!
