Re: [A/S] Thermostat's

Hi Joy. Airstream uses adequate insulation. Merely
cramming more fiberglass insulation doesn't work. If
you compress fiberglass insulation, it will become
less effective. Removing fiberglass and adding spray-
in foam insulation, doesn't work from a different
angle. Aisrtream tried the foam many years ago. It
tends to turn to a fine powder, when subjected to
vibration, such as unbalanced running gear. Airstream
learned quickly, that spray in foam is only good for
stationary use. Therefore, just what do those folks
really accomplis?h. Sounds to me an expensive
undertaking, without any appreciable gain over what
Airstream did when they built the coach.
Should a trailer or motorhome be completely gutted,
for the purpose of remodeling or remanufacture, then
that would be the time to replace all the insulation.
However, to insure top quality work, the interior side
of the exterior sheetmetal should also be pressure
washed with TSP, three times. That insures that any
residual contamination or molds have been eliminated.
Also any other interior metal that will be used should
also be cleaned the same way. Max
