The cork tiles I got come with a surface coating that is quite hard and
shiny. After installation, I am to put on two coats of two part
urethane, which will seal it but good.  My parents' 30 year old cork
floor is in great shape even after puppies, dying dihswashers, and the
day the maple syrup boiled over....

The surface is not pourous like a cork board. 

It looks Great !
