[A/S] 1968 Globetrotter renovation

I've been a VAC member for a couple of years.  At this time I have a 
gutted 1968 Globetrotter.  Only the shell and part of the floor left 
(enough to hold it together).  I'm probably not going to use much of 
the original interior so if anyone can use some of it let me know.  
I live in Waterloo, Iowa.  I'm retired (58) and plan to do some 
extensive traveling when it's complete. My talent lies more in 
destruction than construction, so I'm hoping to get some much 
appreciated help.  So far I've constructed 2 grey water tanks to fit 
between the frame members in front of the black water tank 
(original). The total greywater capacity is about 40 gallons. I've 
also made a large fresh water tank that will go under the bed in the 
front.  This tank is about 100 gallons but in 3 separate 
compartments.  I realize that will be about 830 lbs. but I will only 
have water in 1 compartment until I reach a destination where I plan 
to stay awhile.  The tanks are constructed out of styrofoam, kevlar, 
and epoxy.  So far they havn't leaked "ha".  They have only been 
test filled and the trailer hasn't moved. We'll see what happens 
then.  They seem quite strong.  Since I have removed the wheel wells 
and the floor above the wheels, the next project is the brakes, 
bearings, etc.  I have replaced the shocks.  I read in the archives 
that rubber tortion system can go bad after 30 years or so.  I'm 
wondering if I should replace it at this time.  It didn't seem to be 
sitting low.  When I connected a 12v source to the wires to the 
brake wires nothing happened on either side.  Would it be best to 
remove the backing plates and take them and the drums and get a 
replacment plate with everything new?  From what I've read this 
sounds like the best alternative.  Would the old drums work?  I 
would have them turned.  I'm thinking of using a Jordan 2020 Ultima 
(not sure of this spelling) controller.  I would be interested in 
opinions on this and anything else that may come to mind.  Please 
feel free to be critical I won't take offense.  Thank-you in advance
