Re: [A/S] On the Road Again
Well,
I left my little farm on Friday afternoon. I had to make another run to the
Habitat for Humanity store... my 4th or 5th truckload. Then I loaded the
back of the truck... it's unbelieveable..... you couldn't fit a flea in now.
I still had more stuff so I just threw it in the trailer. I stopped at a
rest stop and went in.... good grief, it looked like a bomb exploded inside.
I hope my axles hold up......
Going through Chattanooga there were THREE accidents!!! one an 18 wheelers
and a car in the center lane!! Grrr...... I was beyond exhausted by the time
I got off the road. I didn't get on the road til 3:00pm, got into the
campground at 6:00pm.
The boys and I were happy in our same campground we always use on the trip,
it's a Coast to Coast park in Adairsville, GA......
Today was a long day... 4 hours of driving including through Atlanta.........
It wouldn't have been so long except I got off I-75 to make a potty stop.....
then I was going to Uturn to get back on going south..... a trucker asked a
question on the CB, I ignored him, so did everyone else, when he asked the
second time I had to answer... I forgot about the Uturn and went on the north
on ramp...... jeez......... no comment. Had to go up some miles and exit and
turn around. Since I was getting off anyway I thought I'd get some gas.... my
low fuel light was on. I pulled into a filling station and was horrified to
see diesel for 1.29 a gallon!! Now, everywhere else I'd seen in GA had it
for about 1.05. I was so pissed I just put 10.00 in.... got back on 75
Southbound and before long got to a Flying J..... 1.05.9.
So, I'm here at the Coast to Coast park in Unadilla. Funny place, $6.00 a
night since I'm a C to C member, but 2.00 each time you want to use the line
for computering.
I'm not sure why you can make all the phone calls you want for free, but they
charge you to get online. The good news is the data port is on one of the
phones in the laundry room and no one polices it.
Met a real character... he was dressed like a cowboy, sort of a skinny
Wilford Brimley. Has a huge fiver and a Ford truck. "Howdy gal" He was
complimenting the dogs while Tucker was in his herding stance pointing at the
guy's kitty cat who was tied up on a line. Cute little older cat. "Don't
let the dog get too near, that's a "bobcat" and he'll be on that dog like
wallpaper on a wall."
Bobcat? I look more carefully.... it's cute little grey pussycat, no sign of
a bobcat anywhere in his immediate family tree.
Meanwhile Tuck is inching closer. The cat is just sitting there, looking at
him, not all that interested frankly. I didn't argue with the guy, it must
be important to him to think it's a bobcat. (c:
I like having everything I own in the truck and trailer..... some will get
offloaded in Florida though. Some artwork for example...my saddle... my art
supplies. I did hang a few oil paintings in the trailer and did the bedroom
wall in a collage of my palomino horses and cowgirls calendar photos.
Actually, as the farm hasn't sold yet, I still have that responsibility but
hopefully it'll sell before the grass starts growing again.
Tomorrow........ Florida!!!
