The accepted method for testing an RV LP system is to measure pressure
with either a calibrated gauge or wet stick. The measurement should be
taken at an appliance (stove burner) with approximately 50 % of the total 
coach volume being used. e.g. a furnace or water heater. Static pressure 
should be no higher than 15 water column inches which is about .2 PSI. 
Dynamic pressure should be no lower than 11 WCI.
 A leak test of the entire system is best done after checking pressure.
Shut off the tank valves. Using an appliance valve lower the pressure 
to approximately 8 WCI. Allow the coach to sit for 15 minutes or so. No
change in pressure is a good system.
The original regulator may still be good. However if the lines to the 
tanks and out of the regulator are original or close to it they definitely 
need to be changed. Beside, changing the high pressure lines will allow
you to take advantage of the new ACME fittings.
