[A/S] Already Wanting to Change

The attached photo is a view from the sofa in my Safari looking aft. To
the right is the cabinet supporting the microwave above & shelving below
(and yes, my hat. What can I say. I'm a native Texan, which is now rare
to find). 

My question - How do I remove the panel with the blue fabric? Eventually
I want to change the blue carpet out (hardwoods or a beige berber), but
that blue fabric panel needs to go sooner rather than later, if removing
that panel is easily done.

Anyone been there & done that? I've tried gently pulling (like maybe
velcro is what is holding it in place?), but would like to shed the
family's "Bull & China Shop" jokes. Suggestions anyone?
