In my last trip through the Pennsylvania Mountains many of the towns that the 
highway runs through have signs no jake brake(exaust brake) I have stayed 
along a major hwy. at the bottom of a hill and have been awaken several times 
at night from the noise of the damn things it is easy to understand the law. 
Any one using them in a residential area has no concretion for his fellow 
man. I have found that with my dodge Cummings diesel and the Tradewind I 
relay could see no need for an exhaust brake I traveled secondary roads and 
also for much of the trip I had 400 board ft of oak lumber in the truck(about 
1200 lb) Perhaps the fact I have a manual transmission the truck does not 
freewheel as badly as one with an auto trans.
