Jack, I am on 3rd AS.  I have coverted two of those from singles to double.
First was 24' center BR, (result)the double restricted traffic flow to rear
bath, finally put the double bed where front sofa was and moved sofa to
center, that worked out OK.  As I recall, we made some modifications so it
was a daybed sort of arrangement.  Presently have 31' rear BR.  I took out
singles and replaced with double.  Result: the area around the bed is
narrow, but far more favorable that the singles.>
