Hi, The battery in your camper will act as a filter up to a point. 
The closer you hook the radio power line to the battery, the better. 
The lower your battery gets, the louder the hum. Because of the age 
of you radio it may be necessary to add some additional filtering to 
it. A good automotive radio shop will be able to handle it. I had the 
same system in my 78. It played well without any hum. I removed it 
for other reasons. Good luck   Arnie
