Tom, I'm sure someone will have a more complete answer, but they make a rivet 
and tool for using from the outside of the trailer skin.  I understand the 
rivet looks like a Pop Rivet, but it is designed to be hammer formed or 
swaged after installation.  There is an air operated tool that swages the top 
of the installed rivet to give it the appearance of the factory installed 
rivets.  I also understand this swaging can be done with a hammer when you 
have a limited number of rivets and don't care if the "look" is not exact.  
You could use a Pop Rivet as a temporary fix and then have someone install 
the other kind, when available.  

I did have a site for the power tool for this job, but have lost it.  Seems 
like it could have been on the same site that sells the polishing tools and 
materials for the Airstream exteriors.

1999 Safari 27 ft. and presently without a tow vehicle.  I sold my 1995, 
K1500, 5.7 l, GMC and have a 2500 HD, 8.1l on order.  Debating if I should 
change the engine to a Duramax.  Any thoughts from the list?  
I need something soon so I can get to the warmer weather.
