Re: [A/S] Airstream Cleaning

Dan, I'm doubtful that anything (within reason) will restore the age
darkened fiberglass end caps other than painting with some sort of gel coat
material. You probably will get some suggestions about painting and
appropriate materials to use.

I base my reservation on the fact that I had some dark stains on the
bathroom countertop and in the bath tub of my ' 68 Tradewind. Someone
suggested that they might be rust stains. We tried every household cleaner
we could think of or that anyone suggested. Nothing worked. The only way I
was able to remove the stains, which I did successfully, was to sand off the
top layer of the counter top and bath tub surfaces with 400 grit wet-dry
sandpaper. That was slow hand work but worked great. The point in mentioning
it is that there was NO color change where the surface had been sanded. The
general overall age discoloration went further down in the fiberglass than I
sanded. I decided to live with it.

That's been my experience. Maybe others have found other results.
