Hi Leon:    Have compared mileage with friends who carry a lot of extra 
fuel and decided that carrying all that extra weight was cutting their 
MPG so all I do is have a 5 gallon red tank in the
van.    I'm retired and in no hurry to get to the next place so
just mosey along wnjoying the scenery and when I find a place I want to 
stop just do that.    I try to follow the blue line roads a lot more 
interesting and lot more gas stations too.   Even if I pay
2 cents more per gallon that's less than a buck.   Don't be in a hurry a 
lot of very unexpected lovely places turn up    Pearl in SoCal
