I haven't been able to run the refrigerator on gas while traveling.  The wind 
would blow the flame out.  On my last visit to Airstream, they installed a 
baffle in front of the burner and said that should correct the "problem".  
Well, it helped, but didn't completely solve the problem.  The burner would 
stay lit on slower two lane roads, but would blow out while traveling on the 
freeways.  I questioned Airstream for the next step in finding a solution.  
They suggested I place a furnace filter inside the refrigerator access door 
while traveling only.  I've done that and on one short trip, it seemed to 
help.  Will have to wait until my fall trip to FL to see if that is the 
"cure".

I would guess that when we travel with the refrigerator off, that the freezer 
compartment warms up enough to allow it to defrost.  From a safety 
standpoint, the best way is to always travel with the gas valves CLOSED.  I 
think the minimum should be to shut off the refrigerator while refueling.  I 
would like to be able to run ours while traveling long days during the hot 
season.
